The photograph has an MSU Department of Information Press release attached: Antitumor Discover - Plantinum drugs that halt the cell division of bacteria and tumors in mice are discussed by their discovers - Michigan State University biophysicists - Barnett Rosenberg and Loretta Van Camp. The photographs are of dividing bacterial before treatment (left) and nondividing bacteria after treatment (right) with a platinum drug. The treated bacteria (right) grow at the same rate as the untreated, but do not divide, and, therefore, grow to relatively gigantic size
