Description: Members of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity pose for a photo on a staircase. Four men sit on the stairs with their heads resting on their hands looking bored, while a very serious looking fifth man stands holding a telephone. The photograph was used in the 1949 Wolverine yearbook. Pictured are Horton Thompson, Bill Haithco, Bob Greene, Cal Sharp, and Alvis Caliman. Alpha Phi Alpha was the first social fraternity for African American students at Michigan State College.
