Description: A digitization of a VHS transfer from a 16mm film. A documentary movie shot throughout the 1955 centennial year of Michigan State University and completed in early 1956, this color motion picture highlights the history of the college. Many centennial events were highlighted, including: press and publication coverage; the planting of 2,500 white pine trees by organizations across the state; the official opening of the centennial on Founders Day (February 12); the issue of a commemorative stamp; a banquet for distinguished service award recipients; a series of educational symposia covering advancements in education and business; Michigan State's name change from MSC to MSU; the annual Water Carnival; the Farm Mechanization program expo; the annual Homecoming celebrations; the Alumni Centennial banquet; and the January 2, 1956 Rose Bowl game against UCLA.
