Description: Equipment used in experiments by Barnett Rosenberg in 1965. Rosenberg used platinum electrodes to to study the effects of an electric field on E. coli. As a result of the experiment, the bacteria did not divide but grew into long strands. He found the cause to be the platinum in the electrodes. This led to the study of the effects of platinum on cancer cells and the discovery of the cancer drug cisplatin.
