Subject: Agriculture, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Students

Description: Women hoe in a field next to Morrill Hall. Women planted vegetables in corresponding rows so that the Horticulture Department continued cultivation during the summer. Each woman had a 12 x 30 plot with the rows running the short way. The small building is the old Horticulture tool shed. Gardens ran from Hospital to the walk east of Horticulture, which was the old college extension. Professor Loree directed the program from his graduation in 1913. Professors Halligan and Hood had preceded Professor Loree. The supervisor during the time of this photograph was probably Professor Halligan.
