Description: In 1914 Akers was hired as a salesman for the Reo Motor Car Company in Lansing, Michigan. Three years later, in 1917, he was promoted to Reo Sales Manager. While working at Reo, Akers allegedly came up with the name "Reo Speed Wagon."
