"It was very early in the morning and a number of us made it in double time to get there and we did manage to save Wells from too much damage." - G.R. Hayes. '18 E. written May, 1949." Groups of people watch as the Engineering Building and Shops burn. Furniture can be seen on the lawn near the buildings.
