Description: A digitization of a 3/4" U-matic videotape. Coy Eklund, Chairman and CEO of The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, interviews Equitable board member Clifton R. Wharton. At the time of the interview, Wharton had recently become Chancellor of the State University of New York (SUNY) system after serving as President of Michigan State University for eight years. Wharton discusses the SUNY campuses, Wharton's father and his career, Wharton's own upbringing and educational background, his humanitarian work abroad and in the United States, and his thoughts on the current state of higher education. The video also includes two promotional spots by The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States.
