DiBiaggio goes on to announce that the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will now report to the Office of the Provost, and he concludes his address by highlighting achievements of the past year, including the success of the MSU 2000 campaign, and the recent release from jail of Nelson Mandela. Provost Scott ends the video by thanking the women responsible for interpreting the address in sign language. Provost Simon's introduction begins with color bars, and was recorded at a low level of volume. An edit cuts to a later portion of the Provost's introduction with corrected volume level.
